Comment on the near-universal bidirectional transcription of human promoters in Molecular Cell
We have published a commentary on a recent paper by Duttke et al, who suggested that are “human promoters are intrinsically directional”. We show that the large majority of human promoters initiat transcription in both directions, and suggest a new promoter definition based on this.
This has been a collaboration with the Heick-jensen lab at Aarhus University, and the Lis lab at Cornell University.
